Newborn Baby Must Have
As a first time parent it can become a little overwhelming. The lists you see in magazines and online advertisements are filled with baby products that are cute, seem like they would be handy but most of them are infant items you would seldom, if ever use.Essential newborn items of course vary through personal preference, cultural norms and local laws. Newborn babies must have:
A safe place to sleep: This does not have to be a brand-new luxury thousand-dollar custom crib. There have been babies that have safely slept in cardboard boxes, dresser drawers, and laundry baskets. Many babies today sleep in cribs, cradles and bassinets, but again, you don’t have blow through your budget to get a great one. Look at online auction sites and take your pick of all the varieties available for every budget. The National Safety Council shares this information when buying a used crib:
Never use a crib with lead paint, corner posts or decorative cutouts.
The space between the slats must be no more than 2-3/8 inches apart.
The top rails of the crib sides, in their raised position, should be at least 26 inches above the top of the mattress support at its lowest position.
The mattress should fit snuggly next to the crib so there is no gap. If you can place two adult fingers between the mattress and crib, immediately replace the mattress.
A safe car seat: This is the law, and this is the best way for your newborn to travel. The 2004 American Academy of Pediatrics explains why new is best, but used can be safe, too. If you choose to buy used car seats, keep these tips in mind:
Do not use a car seat that is more than 10 years old. Some manufacturers recommend that car seats only be used 5-6 years.
Ask if the seat was ever in a crash. Do not use a car seat if you don’t know its history.
Do not use a car safety seat that doesn’t have a label with the date of the manufacture and seat name or model number. Without these you can’t check on recalls.
Never use a car seat that has any cracks in the seat frame.
Never use a car seat that is missing pieces.
Appropriate Clothes: Though it can be hard to not buy the whole store, your newborn really only needs a handful of undershirts and one-piece sleepers. Anything more is extra, but nice to have nonetheless. If you shop at online auctions you can pick up the cute baby clothes at a fraction of th 1000 e retail price.
Breast milk or Formula: Mother Nature provides breast milk for free and online auctions often sell name brand formula for much less than retail stores.

Things To Buy For The Newborn Baby And The Expecting Couple
Things To Buy For The Newborn Baby And The Expecting Couple
Expecting a child is one of the most wondrous times for a couple, especially if the child is their first-born. But it could also be quite a challenge to the couple considering the various things they have to consider and prepare before labor or birth. Child experts and even OB Gynecologists will tell the expectant couple to prepare a few things a month or so before the projected birth date. Also, welcoming a new addition to the family should be put to consideration in order to build a harmonious relationship with all the members of the family.
Here are several things a couple needs to make sure they are ready and have considered before “the day” arrives:
Goodie Bag. This may be overlooked a lot of times by the expecting couple but being ready a month or so before the day arrives with a packed goodie bag will prove to be a very beneficial thing to do. So what should be in the goodie bag? I suggest put in everything, from small to big things, as this is technically not just a ‘bag’ but a metaphorical bag for all things needed by the couple, themselves. On the side of the expecting mother, as she is the one who will undergo labor, I suggest that she make a list of everything that can help her undergo through labor, may she chose any form of labor like normal or Caesarian. This list could include her favorite treats or foods, her favorite blanket or pillow, her favorite robe or even her most beloved scent. Make sure that the expecting mother has got everything that will make the hospital room feel like home, sure enough, labor will go smoothly when the expecting mother is fully relaxed.
Clothes for the Baby. As the couple’s center of the universe when he or she arrives, the newborn baby will surely need and get a lot of attention. Buying new baby clothes is actually one of the most fun times the expecting couple may have. As some couples do get an ultrasound for the mother five months into her pregnancy, they could be sure what clothes for a particular sex to buy. However, for couples who choose to be surprised on the birth date of the child, buying clothes which are unisex is imperative. Do consider buying newborn baby clothes which are neutral in color, white is always the perfect choice for this. Just be aware that in buying baby clothes, the couple should check for the materials used, cotton materials are breezy and do also check for hypoallergenic materials for the newborn. 1000
The Nursery. Getting the home ready for the baby is also a thing that should not be missed by the couple. Yes, some couples sometimes do get overly excited and baby-proof their home. I suggest not spending good money on baby proofing up until the half year of the child. Putting up a special place or a nursery for the baby is a good project for the expecting couple. Get a sturdy crib that could last for a good year or a couple of years as this could still be used for the next baby. Make sure that the fabric materials used suits your baby’s skin best and that the paint is lead and toxins-free.
Baby Toiletries. There is a whole market segment out there, a whole industry catering to baby toiletries. And this is a good thing for the consumers and the couples as the products do continuously become better suited for babies. Buy soaps or liquid baths that they are mild, hypoallergenic and essentially free of any harmful chemicals. Going further to this, do also look for brands of laundry detergent specially formulated for the newborns’ clothes, as the usual household detergent may sometimes be harmful to them thus getting some allergic reactions on the skin.
Birth Announcements. Getting birth announcements will make the day extra special for your baby. Sending these sentimental cards to your family and friends is good as this shows much care for the special day.
Newborn Baby Gift Basket. As newborn baby gift items or baskets could come from the couple themselves or their immediate family and friends, I decided to include this here. Buying a unique personalized baby gift basket is a good way to welcome the newborn into the world wherein he or she is warmly loved by everyone around him or her. There are a lot of great things and toys for babies out in the market but I suggest that you look for customized baby items and gifts as these show the extra effort, love and care for the child. And who wouldn’t adore a child wearing a cute personalized baby shirt? Personalized newborn gifts can be custom arranged based on the child’s gender, putting in the perfect personalized newborn baby gift items has never been so wonderful.
These are just some of the things that should be remembered in expecting a child into this wonderful world. Others to be considered are: making sure that the monetary funds will cover up to after birth for the vaccinations, etc., taking Lamaze classes, choosing the best-suited way of labor, pre-introduction to the household, and even post-natal depression.

Be Prepared
If you are out and about on the move with your baby, there is every chance that you will need to change their diaper at some point it is not ideal, as anyone will tell you, to change a diaper in a setting that is outside your home, but sometimes it is simply unavoidable. In this respect, you will need to be prepared. Any trip that you make out of doors with your child will need to be planned with a good deal of awareness of what it takes. The first thing to be aware of is that you will need to take quite a few things, but they need to be easily portable so taking just the right amount is crucial.
Firstly, you will obviously need a clean diaper. Ideally, before going out you will have changed your baby to put on a disposable diaper. The reason for this is one of disposal, as throwing away a soiled cloth diaper means you have one less in your rotation, but carrying it around is of course less than desirable. Also for disposal, you may want to carry a bag not indispensable, but nicer for whoever has to empty the garbage pail in which you dispose of the diaper. As well as this, some moist wipes will help with cleaning your baby s affected area. A change of clothes is also advisable, in case the old diaper has leaked and soiled the outer clothing. The change should, of course, take place in a public washroom for reasons of privacy and practicality.
